The Karmelita (Karmel sapien or Kimberlian) is an elusive humanoid creature native to the northeastern parts of North America; specifically in the St. Lawrence Lowlands near what used to be Hochelaga. Usually around 5'4" in stature, it has light olive skin, dark eyes, black hair and glasses to help with its myopic vision hampered by strabismus from an early age. It is primarily active during the daytime on weekdays, working in a hospital, and late into the evening, browsing the Internet for strange websites. It is a single-gender species, primarily female. If a male Karmelita is encountered, it should be noted that it is probably another species of sapien using mimicry and to not be fooled.

Karmelita is known to subsist mostly on take-out and specific home-cooked meals. It is unknown whether tomatoes are poisonous to the Karmelita; it has yet to be recorded as having consumed the questionable vegetable willingly. Karmelita are easily enticed by food; notable music conoisseur D. E. Green once stated that "it's cheaper to clothe a Karmelita than to feed one", as they have been known to consume vast quantities of food once presented with it.

The Karmelita has an odd means of communication; it has been known to be eloquent in serious speech patterns, but can also easily slip into primitive lexicon (aka leetspeak) when the feeling to do so arises. In certain situations, Karmelita may rely upon doctored images, or macros, to convey its emotions. This particularly occurs when words simply do not suffice.
